“ We had heard many good things about this Honduran restaurant, so we stopped by on a Saturday for a quick lunch. It's located next door to the Oxford Spot gas station, and the atmosphere inside is upbeat and friendly. There were a variety of lunch options, so we asked for recommendations. My companion ordered the Pescado Lago de Yojoa, which was a whole fried tilapia served with fried rice, fried sliced plantains, black beans, and salad. I went with the server's suggestion of Pollo con Tajadas which is fried chicken served on a bed of freshly shredded cabbage and fried plantains, smothered in a cream sauce topped with crumbled cheese. Our server mentioned that this is a very popular dish in Honduras. Everything was delicious, and portions were huge! We could taste the care and love that went into preparing the food. For dessert, my companion selected items from the freezer case. The popsicle was made from the Nance fruit which was unfamiliar to us and very tasty! Our server Maida was friendly and helpful, and our food was served quickly. We truly enjoyed our Honduran food adventure! ”

“ I’m sitting at La Cocinita de Jackie right now in Oxford and just had the best food of my life. Full stop. Jackie — originally from Honduras — should honestly be the mayor of this town. The love she puts into her food is unreal. She runs a food truck that fires up every weekday morning at 5:30 AM, then she opens the restaurant at 8:30 AM and stays open late. The hardest-working person in Oxford serving the best food in Oxford. If you haven’t been here yet, go. Bring friends. Bring strangers. This place deserves a line around the block. ”

“ Such an amazing plate of food! A friend of mine told me about this place and I was skeptical at first because I doubted Oxford would have a place that served good Honduran food. I am happy to say i was wrong because this is some of the best food! You won't leave hungry but you will probably have leftovers. I plan to come back when the weather cools off to try their sopas and other dishes. Well worth the detour for something truly unique. ”
